Michael R. Whalen, 58, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Feb 24th, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Pamela J. (McLaren) Whalen. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of Walter J. Whalen, Sr. and Anita A. (Decelle) Whalen of Central Falls.
He is survived by his loving children, Anita M. Whalen of Albion, and Aaron M. Whalen of Pawtucket. He leaves 7 siblings, Walter Whalen, Jr. of Woonsocket, William Whalen of North Attleboro, John Whalen of Westerly, Kenneth Whalen of Pawtucket, Patrick Whalen of Pawtucket, Tammy Lourenco of Dighton, MA, and Thomas Whalen of Uxbridge, MA. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Michael graduated from Central Falls High School and NE Tractor Trailer School. His greatest passion was his work as a truck driver for 20 years, taking great pride in working over the road for North American Van Lines. He was an avid fan of The Dallas Cowboys and The M&Ms Race Team, and enjoyed playing the drums in his earlier years.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at 9:00am in Holy Spirit Church, 1030 Dexter St., Central Falls, RI. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Kidney Fund would be greatly appreciated.
